How the Rift is played
The battle mode of Prism Wings, in 5 short rules.
The Rift is a head-to-head duel fought with the cards you collect. Each side fields 3 cards across a glowing seam, takes turns making moves, and races to knock out 5 of the other side's cards.
1 · 3 cards, 3 roles
Their side
Your side
The middle card is your attacker, the only card that attacks, and it can hit any of the opponent's 3. The 2 cards beside it are supports: they can't attack but can offer support with their abilities.
Both players place their opening 3 in secret, then lock in. The board reveals at once.
2 · 2 moves a turn
Draw a card at the start of your turn with a tap of your deck, then spend 2 moves:
- Attack: your middle card strikes one of theirs.
- Ability: trigger a card's active ability.
- Switch: pull your attacker back and promote a support.
Buff then attack. Switch then strike. Sequencing is the whole game.
3 · First to 5 knockouts
A card that reaches 0 HP is destroyed. Destroy 5 of the opponent's cards and the match is yours.
4 · 12 elements, one chart
Every card has an element. A strong matchup deals double damage, a poor one deals half. Find the attacking element's row, then the defender's column.
×2 weakness hit ×½ resisted blank: normal damage
5 · Abilities and special attacks
Most cards carry an ability: a heal each turn, a buff on entry, a sting when struck. Some are always on; others cost a move. The card face tells you which.
Legendary and promo cards each hold a special attack. Hold one in the attacker slot for a full turn cycle and it charges. Firing costs 1 move and plays a full cinematic.
Building your deck
First, choose your leader
Every card carries a leader skill. The leader you seat boosts matching cards for the whole match, and the rarer the leader the bigger the boost.
Infera leads, and her fire cards take the boost.
Then fill the 20
A Rift deck is 20 cards, up to 3 copies of any card, built against a 50-point budget. Rarer cards cost more, so power trades against depth.
